Pressure Relief Study
The pressure distribution over a person lying in bed can be electronically measured with the help of an elastic cover outfitted with pressure sensors and connected to a computer. The Tempur mattress was compared to a box sprung bed of the highest quality. The results were shown on a screen differentiating the pressure relief on the body using color coded images of the measured pressures and a three-dimensional graphical representation.

Light blue and blue areas denote low pressure. Green, yellow and red denote areas of high pressure, understood to be unpleasant and resulting in impaired blood flow in the areas affected. The results show that the Tempur mattress provides resoundingly better pressure relief.
